This picture above shows the original Clubrooms at Mangere The Auckland Aero Club was founded in 1928 at what is now the Auckland International Airport. After selling the airport, the Auckland Aero Club moved to its present location at Ardmore Airport. The history of the Club is something that no other training organisation can ever emulate, complete with an unsurpassable training record that spans over 75 years. In fact Auckland Aero Club has trained more airline pilots flying in New Zealand and overseas than any other training organisation in New Zealand. This track record is testimony to the commitment and reputation of providing quality training to pilots. The Auckland Aero Club is a member of the RNZAC ( Royal New Zealand Aero Clubs) they provide services to the Aero Club and are the governing body for the National Competitions, which the Club has a huge history in, with members going on to represent their country in the Trans Tasman Competition "Wings" trophy against New Zealand's long time foes the Australians. The Auckland Aero Club is also made up of another Aero Club from the 60's-90's, the Waitemata Aero Club. It was decided that as the two Clubs were so like minded, competing in the same market was not productive so the two clubs combined into one at the new Clubrooms situated on the best spot on the field. This was done in September 1999. There is much more history to the Club that can be presented on these pages. Come on out to the Club and ask a few members what they know. You will learn so much of the rich history that is the Auckland Aero Club.
