Have an overseas licence? Would like to fly in New Zealand? If you are seeking the issue of a NZ CPL or ATPL, an assessment of your flight experience and qualifications will have to be carried out by Aviation Services Ltd, who will then advised what is required to obtain these licences. Contact the Auckland Aero Club to find out their contact details and what information will be required. If you are seeking the issue of a NZ PPL, an assessment of your flight experience can be carried out by the Chief Flying Instructor at the Aero Club. Documents required for assessment are a current overseas pilot licence, current medical certificate and pilot logbook. To meet the minimum requirements for an issue of a NZ PPL a pilot is required to have at least: - 50 hours total flight time
- 15 hours dual flight time
- 15 hours pilot in command flight time
- 10 hours cross country flight time
- 5 hours dual instrument flight time
If you do not meet all the minimum requirements, these can be obtained with the Auckland Aero Club. If you meet the above criteria, you will then be required to complete a NZ Biennial Flight Review (BFR) to PPL standard with an A or B Category Instructor. Once successfully completed the BFR, the required information and a licence issue fee of $55.00 will be sent to the Civil Aviation Authority for processing (approximate processing time is one to two weeks). Please note: Pilots wishing to obtain a NZ licence will need to complete a CAA Fit and Proper Person Questionnaire and CAA Medical consent/declaration form. The Fit and Proper Person Questionnaire requires the following: 1)Confirmation of Identity 2)Confirmation of Address for Service 3)Change of Name (if applicable) and 4)A report of your criminal record history (including transport offence history) from all countries you have lived in for more than 6 consecutive months within the last 5 years. Please refer to CAA website for the required forms: www.caa.govt.nz Pilots section: Licences for pilots from other countries (page 5 has the links to the forms). To suit your requirements, we have a variety of aircraft including Cessna's (152 and 172), Grumman's (AA-1C), Pipers (Tomahawk and Cherokee), Cirrus and a Partenavia.
