The Auckland Aero Club, as a member of the Royal New Zealand Aero Club (RNZAC), competes annually in the Regional and National flying competitions. Club competitions are also held each year and the winners of each event are entitled to represent the club at the RNZAC Regional competitions. The winners of this event may then go on to represent the club and the region at the RNZAC National event. Some 20 events are competed for each year, including Spot Landing Competitions, Formation Flying, Aerobatics, Life Raft Dropping, Bombing and many others. Competition flying, as well as being a lot of fun, is a great way to improve flying skills. Competitions are held all over the country and the travelling to and from is as exciting as the competition itself. As well as competing, these events provide an opportunity to meet aviation enthusiasts from all over the country and the rest of the world, and we always have a strong team of supporters also attending these events.
