The minimum requirements for a PPL is 50 hours flight time, which includes a minimum of 15 hours dual (with an instructor) and 15 hours solo flight time. Following the aero club's PPL flying syllabus (a summary of this can be viewed under PPL Course Syllabus) you will accumulate these required hours as you progress towards your licence. Once you have completed the required syllabus and the six exams, you will sit a flight test with a certified flight examiner. After successfully completing the flight test, you will be the proud owner of a Private Pilot licence.
There is no set time limit at the Club in order to complete your training. The club is open 7 days a week, from 8am until 5pm, for your convenience.
While training you can get involved in competition flying. There are specific competitions available for student pilots and the club is always looking out for new talent. You will also have the opportunity to participate in Club trips. Once you have achieved your PPL you can add further ratings to your licence. These include different Aircraft Type Ratings, an Aerobatic Rating, or a Night Rating, enabling you to fly solo at night with passengers.
